SC to hear ex-CM’s wife’s plea for probe
EXARUNACHAL CM’S WIFE, ALLEGED HER FAMILY WAS GETTING THREATS AND WAS ADVISED NOT TO
HOLD THE PRESS MEET
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear on Thursday hear a plea of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister, Kalikho Pul’s wife who has demanded a CBI probe into her husband’s death.
Pul reportedly committed suicide last year, leaving a 60-page letter blaming certain individuals, including some from the judiciary, for the extreme step he was forced to take.
Treating the letter written by Dangwimsai Pul as a petition, a bench of Justices Adarsh Kumar Goel and U U Lalit will hear it.
The appeal to the Chief Justice of India, which Pul’s wife made public at a press conference last week, said “it is essential that an FIR be registered on the basis of the allegations contained in it (suicide note) and the case be investigatedbytheCBIsince the primary allegations are of corruption of judges at the highest level.”
She alleged her family was getting threats and was advised not to hold the press conference.
“Ever since the (suicide) note surfaced in the media, my family including myself, my children and relatives has been subjected to various threats from different quarters,” she claimed.
Pul hung himself in the official resident of the CM at Itanagar on August 9.
The note attributed to Pul was dated August 8, a day before his body was found, and was titled “Mere Vichaar” (My Thoughts).
He took over the reins of Arunachal Pradesh on February 19, 2016 with the support of BJP. But, months later he had to relinquish the job following a Supreme Court order in July, reviving the Congress government in the state.
