NEW DELHI: Friday morning in Delhi was breezy with wind blowing at 16 kmph bringing down the maximum temperature to a notch below the seasonal average normal at 25.1 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature remained a notch above the normal average for this time of the year at 12.4 degrees Celsius.

The Met department said the winds will persist on Saturday but temperatures will climb after that, setting the stage for the weather to get warmer.

Temperatures are likely to rise over the coming week, said the India Meteorological Department, with the minimum temperatures likely to range between 11 and 15 degrees Celsius and maximum Normal temperatures for this time of the year;

between 26 and 29 degrees.

ture with the mercury expected to rise to as high as 29 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and not drop below 15 degrees Celsius.

This is better than February 19 this year, when the temperature spiked to 30.8 degrees Celsius. This was the warmest February 19 in five years.

Friday’s north westerly winds usually persist in Delhi after a western disturbance passes over northern parts of the country. It helps bring down mercury as winds blow past colder, hilly regions such as Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir before reaching Delhi.

The minimum rose to 12.4 degrees Celsius on Friday, from Thursday’s minimum of 11 degrees Celsius and the maximum rose to 25.1 degrees Celsius.

The average minimum and maximum temperatures for this time of the year is 11 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.
