The Border Security Force shot dead a female Pakistani intruder and nabbed another in two separate incidents on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday along the 198-km long International Border.

BSF Jammu Frontier DIG D Pareekh said, “BSF apprehend a Pakistani intruder, who was moving suspiciously ahead of the fence along the international border in Kathua district and the troops also killed a female Pakistai intruder in Paragwal sector of Jammu district.”

The female intruder was killed in the Paragwal sector of Akhnoor sub division in Jammu district, he informed.

He said the BSF men deployed on the IB challenged the intruder repeatedly to stop but she ignored the warnings and eventually the troops opened fire killing her on the spot.

In the dark it was not possible for the BSF troops to ascertain whether the intruder, who had wrapped a woollen blanket around her body, was a male or female.

“A meeting was also held with the Pakistan Rangers where they were shown pictures of the deceased woman and they agreed to accept the body, “he said.

The body would be handed over to the Rangers on Friday evening.

In the second incident, a Pakistani national moving in a suspicious manner near the border fence was arrested by the BSF in Kathua sector.

The officer said that the questioning of the arrested person was going on.

The intruder was apprehended while he was crossing the International Border in Paharpur border outpost of Hiranagar sector.

He has been identified as Azhar, 21, son of Fouji Ashraf, a resident of Village Nallian Tehsil Shakkargarh district Narowal of Pakistani Punjab province.

The intruder seems to be mentally unsound.
