18YROLD KILLS SELF IN HOSTEL ROOM, LEAVES NOTE BEHIND

GREATER NOIDA : An 18-year-old boy, who was studying mechanical engineerin­g at a private college in Knowledge Park, Greater Noida, allegedly killed himself in his hostel room on Saturday morning.

Aashish, a native of Hempura village of Mainpuri district, was a third year student of Prince Institute of Innovative Technology (PIIT). He was staying in the hostel campus for the past three years and pursuing a diploma in mechanical engineerin­g.

“On Saturday afternoon, Aashish allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the celling fan of his hostel room using a towel. His friends later found his body hanging and informed the college authoritie­s and police. We have recovered the body and sent it for post mortem,” said Manish Sharma, station house officer, Knowledge Park police station.

A suicide note was also allegedly recovered from Aashish’s room, where the boy apparently mentioned his personal life crisis as the reason for him taking the final step. In the letter, Aashish also mentions a personal relationsh­ip issue involving a girl and requests authoritie­s to not harass the said girl post his demise.

“Nobody should be blamed for my death. I would like to offer my sincere apologies to my parents, aunt and uncle for taking this step,” reads the letter.

College authoritie­s said Aashish’s parents have been informed about his death and they will arrive on Sunday morning to collect his body.
