An RSS leader from Madhya Pradesh has announced a ₹1 crore bounty on Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s head, holding his government responsible for the recent killing of members of right- wing organisations in the southern state.

The RSS , however, was quick to distance itself from the announcement made by its Ujjain mahanagar prachar pramukh Kundan Chandrawat.

Talking to Hindustan Times , Chandrawat said he regretted his statement but added that he had made the remark as he was agitated over the ‘killings of innocent people’ in Kerala.

“I express regret but I still stand by my statement. I have achieved what I wanted to. Now, there is a debate in the entire country over the killings of innocent people in Kerala,” he said.

Reacting to Chandrawat’s earlier threat, Kerala chief minister Vijayan said he won’t stop doing his work due to such warnings. “The RSS has taken the heads of many people. Let it (RSS) issue many more threats, I don’t care,” he said.

In the recent past there have seen a spate of murders of both right-wing and Left-alligned activists in Kerala in the wake of anescalated turfwarbetweenthe two sections.

MP home minister Bhupendra Singh said Chandrawat might have made the announcement in the spur of the movement. “People at times lose control over their words when they are very angry”, Singh said and added that there was anger across the country over the way “the Hindus were being killed in Kerala”.
