₹1.4 lakh in fake notes recovered, banned currency seized
Police on Friday arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in a fake Indian currency racket.
Police recovered ₹1.4 lakh fake notes in denomination of 100 rupees. A high quality colour printing machine along with papers and a Verna car used for circulation of the currency have also been recovered, police said.
The men, Hakikat Chauhan (33), Tahseen (34) and Fazar (35), had allegedly been printing and supplying the notes in various parts of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
“On Friday, we received information that Chauhan and his associate Tehseen involved in supply of fake notes will go to Meerut (UP) in a Verna car to supply a huge consignment of fake notes .This information was further developed and a team was constituted to nab them. A trap was laid and two persons were spotted in a Verna, going towards ISBT, Kashmere Gate,” joint CP, crime, Praveer Ranjan, said.
Ranjan said after a short chase, the two were held near Wazirabad flyover.
Police also arrested their third associate Fazar.
Police on Friday arrested three people and recovered ₹10 lakh cash in demonetised currency.
The men, Rajesh Kumar, Ashutosh Kumar and Harish were on their way to Seemapuri, when they were stopped at a picket near Apsara border. “The men had ₹10 lakh in old ₹500 notes and ₹1.5 lakh new currency notes,” a police officer said.
