MURDER THREATS

A six-year-old has been allegedly gang-raped by her three teenage cousins, who also inserted a piece of wood in her genitals in Etah district in Uttar Pradesh.

The police have arrested one of the suspects and are conducting searches to nab others. The girl is admitted to JN Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University and is said to be out of danger.

The victim’s mother has lodged an FIR against the three boys for alleged gangrape and six others for murder threats. The FIR has been registered under Section 376D (rape) 147 (rioting), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and 3/4 of the POCSO Act (Protection of Children From Sexual Offences).

“FIR has been registered against nine, including three gang-rape accused. Police arrested the main accused today (Saturday) and are making raids to arrest the rest,” inspector Sudhir Singh told Hindustan Times over phone.

According to the victim’s mother, her daughter was playing outside the house on Thursday evening while she had gone to a field. The three boys lured the girl to the nearby field and allegedly raped her.

“They also inserted wood in her private part. When we searched, we found her lying in a pool of blood,” the woman said.

Dr Anita, in charge, Women’s Hospital, Etah told HT, “We took out the piece of wood from the victim’s body but she was in a very serious condition. She was bleeding profusely and there was the danger of her liver bursting. So she was referred to JN Medical College, Aligarh where she has been operated upon.”

Prof M Haris Khan, superintendent, JN Medical College, AMU told HT, “The victim is being treated in the gynaecology department. She is out of danger and is recovering, but is so terrified that a child psychologist will start her counselling from tomorrow (Sunday).”
