Barcelona plan Cruyff tribute at training centre
One year after his death, Barcelona says it will name the future stadium at its training centre after Dutch great Johan Cruyff. The new stadium at Barcelona’s training center will be called “Johan Cruyff Stadium” in honour of the club’s former player and coach. Barcelona says “the most emblematic building in the facility where future Barca players are coached is to be named after somebody who played such a central role in fostering youth talent at the club.”
Former Dutch star Patrick Kluivert, currently director of football at French club Paris Saint-German, owed up to one million euros to a criminal gang after racking up debts betting on football, a Dutch newspaper said Sunday. De Volkskrant said the gang applied threats to pressure Kluivert in order to recoup the debt which he had repaid in part.
Manchester City have been fined 18,000 euros by UEFA for three offences during their Champions League tie with Monaco at the Etihad Stadium last month. City were found guilty of three charges concerning a pitch invasion, the throwing of objects from the crowd and a delayed kick-off.
