RSS workshop to ‘Indianise’ education
THE TWODAY CLOSED DOOR EVENT WAS HELD BY PRAJNA PRAVAH, AN RSS WING AND ATTENDED BY MORE THAN 700 ACADEMICS
than 700 academics from across the country, including 50 vice-chancellors, discussed creating an academic ecosystem with “Indian” perspective to promote “nationalistic” narrative in education at a two-day workshop organized by the RSS.
In a closed door event on Saturday and Sunday, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat interacted with 721 academics and experts, including 51 V-Cs from 29 states. The event titled “Gyan Sangam” was organized by Prajna Pravah, an RSS wing.
J Nandkumar, national convener Prajna Pravah, said the event is aimed at making concentrated efforts to inculcate Indian perspective in the education system. He said deliberations mostly focused on changes needed in higher studies in the country.
Nandkumar said various education commissions in the country have pointed out one common thing, which is the absence of Indian perspective in the education system.
“The center of gravity in our education system has always been towards the western system. The thrust now is to bring focus back to India,” he said.
Some of the major issues taken up for deliberation in the two-day workshop included “Cultural onslaught on the Education System”, “Intellectual Colonization” and “Resurgence of Nationalism –East & West”.
The speakers included Banaras Hindu University (BHU) V-C G C Tripathi, Acharya Vamdev Shastri (David Frawley), Manohar Shinde, founder director Dharma Civilization Foundation USA, and VP Nanda, professor of international law, Denver University. Delhi University V-C Yogesh Tyagi, teachers from DU and JNU also attended the workshop.
