Two minors raped by neighbours in separate incidents

-

A 27-year-old e-rickshaw driver was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl in south Delhi’s Tughlaqabad village.

Police said the crime took place almost a month ago. The girl, however, did not tell her family because the alleged accused had threatened to kill her if she told anybody about it.

A police officer said that the girl’s younger brother was an eyewitness to the assault on his sister allegedly by the neighbour, Romi Rana alias Kake.

It was only on Friday that the boy told his mother about the rape. According to the complaint, the girl was going to a nearby shop with her brother when Rana allegedly lured her to his room on the pretext of giving her sweets. He gave her brother some money and asked to bring some chocolates from the shop.

Rana allegedly locked her in the room, beat her up and raped her. The boy witnessed the rape but remained silent as he feared for his sister’s life.

In a similar crime, a 10-yearold girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar on Friday. The alleged accused, a railway employee, was arrested on Saturday after he was caught redhanded by the police. He was identified as Khushi Ram. HTC

group of six masked robbers barged into a private goods delivery company office in east Delhi’s Patparganj industrial area and decamped with ₹25 lakh in cash on Saturday night.

The robbers held the employees on gunpoint and ransacked the entire office. When the security guard tried to stop them from fleeing, one of the robbers attacked him with his pistol’s butt, police said.

Police have registered a case and have launched a probe. They suspect the involvement of an ‘insider’ behind the crime, as the robbers knew where the cash was kept and first targeted the cash box only. Also, the entire crime was committed within two minutes.

“One of them reached the cash counter, took out the entire cash and put them in a bag,” said the officer, adding they have prepared a list of working and former employees of the firm.

“The call records of their mobile numbers are being examined to verify their role in the crime,” said an investigating officer. HTC
