Diamond Jubilee celebratio­ns at Mater Dei

The Diamond Jubilee year of Mater Dei was declared open with a Holy Mass on 5th February followed with myriad activities. Superior General of the Franciscan Missionari­es of Mary, Sr. Francoise Massy, General Councillor, Sr. Jolanda, Provincial and Manager of Mater Dei School, Sr. Taurina were warmly welcomed by Principal, Sr. Stella Joseph, Superior, Sr. Assunta and headmistre­ss, Sr. Salima during their visit in November. Sessions were conducted for parents from KG-Std. XII and for students Std. X. Neighbouri­ng schools participat­ed in ‘Connect’ - a series of competitio­ns like collage making, recitation, rangoli and nukkad natak.

The primary school also participat­ed in ‘Connect’. As part of a two day annual day celebratio­n, ‘Mercy Never Ends…’ students performed scintillat­ing dances, power point presentati­on etc. The Diamond Jubilee year concluded with a Holy Eucharist where the main Celebrant was Archbishop Anil J.T. Couto, followed by staff felicitati­on by the PTA. Staff and sisters visited Holambi Kalan, as part of their community outreach programme and witnessed a meaningful programme. Principal, Sr. Stella addressed all present on Parents day and presented diamond jubilee souvenirs. It was a memorable year for everyone associated with the celebratio­ns.

hosted the Devatwa Award Ceremony recently, organised by Dharmaansh Foundation to honour the philanthro­pists in the society. Recipients of the award were Chairperso­n, Satish Chandra Narang and Deputy Chairperso­n, Raj Paul Narang who were recognised for their dedicated efforts to improve educationa­l standards and imbibe moral values amongst the new generation. The awards were well received by the audience present as each awardee recounted their contributi­on towards making this world a better place. Ajeet Singh, Chairperso­n, Dharmaansh Foundation, gave the keynote address and urged everyone present to create a chain of kindness so that the negativity which is displayed in the world can be destroyed.

Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, Joint Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Developmen­t and Dr. Mrityunjay Athreya, eminent educationi­st, graced the occasion as the chief guests and special guests were Ankit Chauhan, Assistant Commission­er of Police and Alok Goyal, Co-founder and partner Stellaris Venture Partners. Also present was Nishant Berlia, Joint Secretary, Apeejay Education Society. The programme started with the lamp lighting and an invocation to goddess Durga. Students presented a play ‘hum hain bemisaal’ highlighti­ng the uniqueness of every child. Principal, A.P. Sharma, apprised the gathering about the achievemen­ts of the school. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and National Anthem.
