HEART-TO-HEART CONVERSATION Recall the bunch of expectations that you have from your parents — the demands you want to be fulfilled or the things you want them to discuss. As a parent, you have now got the golden opportunity to better the bond with your child.

“If I ever get to step into the shoes of my dad, the first thing I would like to do is to spend quality time with the child. I would be a friend to him and hold discussions on various topics be it about his studies, his interests or things he would like to do in a weekend or a holiday”, shares Hemang Sinha, from SR DAV Public School, Dayanand Vihar.

“I would also like to discuss my school and college experiences with my children and motivate them to always do what their heart desires” adds the Class 10 student. HARSH VERMA

Class 8, Ahlcon Public School PURSUING PASSIVE INTERESTS Are there any hidden talents of your parents? If yes, do they devote enough time for their interests and nurture them? No? Here’s the golden opportunity to change their lives.

“My dad is well-versed in the art of influencing people with words. Being my dad for a day would give me the opportunity to do something for him. I’ll definitely start a blog and write on diverse topics to motivate people. I would also ensure that his sense of humour gets a wider audience and hence promote myself on social media and open a comedy channel on YouTube,” says Shefali Mishra, a Class 12 student from St. Paul’s School.

A DOTING PARENT

As a member of GenX, do you think you can play the characters of your parents better than what they have been doing? If yes, you now have the authority to productively plan your lives.

“My mother is my role model. I am in awe of her managerial skills as a housewife. Being the first woman of the family, I would love to cook delicious food, say prayers on time and make some time out for stitching and open a boutique, says Ekta Yadav, a Class 10 student from SHEFALI MISHRA, Class 12, St. Paul’s School Laxmi International School.

Getting the power wand to herself, she would also love to discipline her mischievous son (Ekta’s brother) and enforce strict rules for him.

PERKS OF ADULTHOOD

With responsibility comes power too. While the role-play burdens you with expectations from those around you, do not forget you have privileges in store.

Harsh Verma from Ahlcon Public School envies his dad’s XUV 500. “Getting to live the life of my doctor dad for a day, I would love to drive to his workplace and treat patients with care,” says the Class 8 student. He would also like to make the maximum use of his dad’s favourite perfume and his neatly pressed shirts.

Upon returning home after a tiring day, Harsh aspires to do everything that his dad does to unwind – attend tennis coaching classes, watch TV or play on his iPad without any interruptions.

PRACTICAL CONFESSIONS

There must be things you are tired of complaining before your parents. Your bid to desperately update them on matters sensitive to your heart may have often fallen on deaf ears. Worry not, SUHASINI KRISHNA MURTHY,

Class 8, Delhi Public School, Sushant Lok now is the time to implement all the changes.

“The first thing I would do after switching roles with my dad is to shave off my (his) beard so that his daughters no longer get hurt while hugging him”, says Suhasini Krishna Murthy.

The Class 8 student from Delhi Public School, Sushant Lok adds, Getting to play a responsible role, Suhasini would also like to lead a productive life. “Life is not only about finance and constraints, as a corporate honcho, I would emphasis on living life to the fullest and giving quality time to my family”, she adds.

Getting to live the life of my doctor dad for a day, I would make the maximum use of his favourite perfume and drive his XUV500 to the hospital and treat patients with care. My dad is well versed in the art of influencing people with his words.

I’ll definitely start a blog for him and write on diverse topics to motivate people.
