DTEA launches Mayur Vihar branch
management, piloted by secretary R Raju and his team, under the leadership of president M Sooriya Narayanan, visited the 8th DTEA branch at Mayur Vihar. DTEA Janakpuri principal Raji K, Laxmi Bai Nagar principal Meena Sahini, Moti Bagh principal Harikrishnan, Mandir Marg principal Gayatri VK and RK Puram principal Chitra V were present, along with vice principals of Lodhi Estate Janakpuri, Moti Bagh, RK Puram, Laxmi Bai Nagar and Pusa Road. Senior teachers from all the seven DTEA schools accompanied. Vice president R Mani, wellwisher Parthasarathi and senior engineer Arul Prakash also graced the occasion. It was indeed a very proud moment for everyone present, who reiterated the determination of DTEA secretary to bring education to every child and make ‘sarva shiksha’ a reality.

At the event, the school band gave a beautiful rendition of the song ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’. Principal Dr Manimala Roy presented the annual report and apprised the parents of various accolades won by the children throughout the year. The chief guest was extremely impressed by the efforts of the children and applauded the arduous task accomplished by the teachers. were honoured with the SKOCH Smart Education Award-2017. The institution was also the proud recipient of the SKOCH Order-of-Merit —India’s highest independent civilian honour since 2003. Presidium Ashok Vihar, Dwarka 16B and Gurgaon were enlisted among the ‘Top-30 Education Projects in India.’ The institutions won by a popular vote through a jury of eminent experts and Secretariat of SKOCH, who made the selection after going through a large number of nominations and presentations.
jointly organised a two-day environment festival — ‘Hamara Paryavaran,’ which was inaugurated by Dr BC Sabata, Senior Sc Officer and Eco Club programme coordinator, department of environment, Government of Delhi, along with Livleen Kahlon, associate director, Sustainable Development Outreach and Youth Education, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). The festival marked the continued involvement of students of both the schools, who were taken on regular farm visits, where Dr Rajni Kumar, chairperson Springdales Education Society, oriented them about the flora and fauna. The students actively participated in a variety of hands on nature projects. In her vote of thanks, Dr Jyoti Bose, director of Springdales Schools, urged the need “to expose urban children to the rural setup” to inculcate respect for nature. In the valedictory function, Ameeta Mulla Wattal, principal of Springdales School, Pusa Road, welcomed the guest of honour George C Varughese, president of Development Alternatives, who is also a keen environmentalist.
