THE DUO WANTED TO GET MARRIED BUT WHEN BOY’S PARENTS TOLD THE WOMAN TO PUT THEIR AFFAIR ON HOLD SHE THREATENED TO COMMIT SUICIDE

A 21-yearold woman was arrested for allegedly having physical relations with a Class 12 student in Kerala’s Ramapuran town.

Not allowed to marry as the boy was a minor, the couple locked themselves up in the boy’s bedroom at his residence and allegedly indulged in sexual acts.

After persuasion attempts failed, the boy’s parents called the police, who broke open the door and took them into custody.

The woman, a beautician who worked in Ernakulam, was arrested and charged under sections of Prevention of Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), while the boy was sent to a juvenile home.

A medical exam confirmed that the two had sex after they locked themselves up.

The boy’s parents alleged that the woman had entered the house forcibly. They said the couple came into contact while chatting on phone and used to meet discreetly. The boy’s parents told the woman to put their relationship on hold till the boy turned 18 but she refused to pay any heed to their advice and threatened to commit suicide .

“Considering their age, we initially thought of letting them off with a stern warning. But both insisted that they will commit suicide if they were not allowed to marry now,” a police officer said.
