BJP launches ‘Vijay Vikas Yatra’ in bid to highlight ‘failures’ of AAP
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi launched a ‘Vijay Vikas Yatra’ as part of its municipal election campaign to highlight the ‘failures’ of the AAP in the national capital. The entourage, which started at Vasant Vihar, was led by state unit chief Manoj Tiwari. It passed through 12 wards in RK Puram, Malviya Nagar, Kasturba Nagar and Greater Kailash area.
Addressing a meeting at Safdarjung Enclave during the tour, Tiwari said the AAP and Congress are responsible for the poor state of affairs in the city. He also added that Delhi CMArvind Kejriwal and Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken are frustrated because of the rising support for BJP hence indulging in ‘misleading campaign’.
“Kejriwal is himself involved in corruption and administrative irregularities yet he is misleading the people by promising free services again. Maken’s party, which pushed Delhi into anarchy by supporting Kejriwal in 2013, is also trying to mislead people by promising unrealistic schemes. The people of Delhi now fully understand their political realities. The voters of the city will reject Kejriwal-Maken and elect BJP for all round development,” Tiwari said.
Tiwari was accompanied by New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi, former mayor Arti Mehra, and other senior leaders. “The party planned around 480 meetings along with ‘Vijay Vikas Yatra’ in which star campaigners — CMs of BJP ruled states, union ministers, and Bollywood stars — will participate. It is an attempt to reach out to people and take direct feedback from them,” said Ravinder Gupta, convener of the roadshow committee.
