Five held for stabbing golgappa seller 18 times

-

Three men have been arrested and two juveniles apprehended for allegedly murdering a golgappa seller in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri on Sunday night.

Raju (24) was stabbed 18 times after he refused to serve golgappe to the five suspects, police said. During questioning, they reportedly told the police that they were drunk and were enraged when Raju refused to serve them golgappe.

The arrested men are Gogi (22), Anil (28) and Nikhil (24) -- all residents of Mangolpuri. Two knives, Gogi and Anil used to stab Raju, were recovered from them, said police.

Raju was stabbed by the five persons, allegedly drunk, after he could not serve golgappe as he did not have the ingredients to make them. Hearing Raju’s screams, his family and neighbours rushed to him but the attackers had fled. But they managed to see at least two attackers.

Raju was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. A case of murder was registered at the Mangolpuri police station and three teams were formed to nab the attackers, suspected to be from the same locality.

MN Tiwari, deputy commissioner of police (outer district), said they zeroed in on Gogi, who had been missing after the crime.

“We tracked down Gogi’s location in Agra. We finally arrested him arrested him from Rohini early Tuesday morning. His interrogation led us to the other accused,” added the DCP.

Tiwari said Gogi was earlier involved in seven cases of theft and carjacking. Anil too has a criminal background. HTC
