After winning gold in 100m, world’s fastest centenarian runner, 101year-old Mann Kaur clinched gold in 200m and shot put events to complete a hat-trick in the ongoing World Master Games in Auckland, New Zealand, on Wednesday.

The world’s fastest centenarian had earlier broken her world record to clinch gold in 100m at the same event -- considered the Olympics for veterans , on Monday. Improving on her world record by seven seconds in the 100-plus category, the great grand mom completed that race in 1 minute and 14 seconds.

The runner had made headlines last year when she become the world’s fastest centenarian by clinching gold in 100m at the American Masters Games in Vancouver with a time of 1 minute 21 seconds.

Her 79-year-old son, Gurdev, had told HT about the effort she had put in before going to the event. “We trained for five months and as per her timing at training, she should have done better.” For the last few days Mann Kaur had been in pain due to a bent spine.

Kaur had revealed that a good diet and lots of exercise had helped her achieve a long-lasting life.

She began running at age 93 at the suggestion of her son and went on to win more than 20 medals in Masters Games across the globe. Around 18,000 competitors from 100 countries are competing in 28 disciplines in the quadrennial Games. The versatile Mann Kaur is competing in 100m, 200m, shot put and javelin.
