Springdales, Dhaula Kuan, hosts DSLP award ceremony
The Delhi School Literacy Project celebrated its 29th Annual Award Giving Ceremony at
Principal, Dr. Jyoti Bose, welcomed the guests, student volunteers. Chief Guest Mr. Ajay Tirkey, I.A.S., Joint Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development congratulated the DSLP and its member schools on sustaining the programme.
He advised them to continue their work and aim for the stars. Bhatnagar International, Vasant Kunj bagged the Sufia Ajmali Trophy for making the largest number of literates.
The Henry Selz Foundation Trophy for the school making the second largest literates was won by Springdales School, Pusa Road. The UNICEF trophy for the school showing maximum participation was won by New Era Public School, Mayapuri.
The proud recipient of Baldev and Kamala Bhatia Memorial Trophy for their work in the community was Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan. The Rotary Club Trophy for the Best All Round Performance went St. George’s School, Alaknanda. The Satpal Singh Memorial Trophy for new programs & initiatives was awarded to Evergreen Sr. Sec. School, Vasundhara Enclave.
The M.L. Kapoor Memorial Trophy for excellence for the student who has made highest numbers of learners, went to Muskan Midha of Manav Sthali School, for making 160 learners. Presenting the Annual Report, the Honarary Advisor to the DSLP and Chairperson, Springdales Education Society, Mrs. Rajni Kumar, congratulated the winners and thanked the 110 member schools and 12 donors for their constant support in making the DSLP a grand success. Mrs. P. Loomba, Honorary Secretary, DSLP who has been working tirelessly in monitoring and guiding the project proposed the Vote of Thanks.
invited John Pritkin, an American motivational speaker for an interactive session with the students. He has made his mark by featuring in the Guinness Book of World Records through remarkable physical and mental feats.
During the session, he emphasised the power of the mind to overcome obstacles to reach the pinnacle of success. He uses his power of immense humour and captivates his audience using mind boggling acts. Students got an opportunity to witness his feats of strength and got inspired and touched by his personal experiences.
collaborated with a group of fifteen students and two teachers, Prof Agnes Lemetais and Prof Eric Andre of Lycee Sainte Marie, Caen, France for a ten day Exchange Programme.
The school organised various visits to places of historical importance like Qutab Minar, Red Fort, Taj Mahal, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Lotus Temple, Bangla Sahib Gurdwara etc. A special tour to Pratapgarh Farms was made possible for the French delegation to experience Indian village life. The school’s hospitality and precise planning was highly appreciated by the French group.
The Exchange culminated with a Valedictory Function in which students of Saint Marie and DPS Vasant Kunj participated in cultural events.
