NIGERIAN WOMAN FALLS FROM 3RD FLOOR IN SOUTH DELHI

Nigerian national in her 20s reportedly fell from the third floor of a building in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area on Tuesday night.

She was admitted at the AIIMS trauma centre with multiple fractures and is said to be critical. It is still unclear if she jumped from the third floor, slipped accidentally or was pushed.

The police received a PCR call from a man saying a woman had jumped off the third floor of a building and sustained severe injuries.

“We rushed to the spot to find the woman on the floor. She was bleeding profusely. We rushed her to AIIMS where she has been admitted. She has sustained several fractures and remained unconscious for several hours. She has now regained consciousness but is still critical,” a police officer said.

The caller who informed the cops gave a statement, saying the woman was very upset and when he tried to stop her from jumping, all she said was that she wanted a divorce.

“He said that she kept saying ‘I want divorce’. He said she was crying and seemed very upset and before he could ask anything further, she jumped. He said that he then immediately made a PCR call. He helped rush the woman to the hospital,” a police officer said.

Police said that the woman is not in a condition to give a statement but initial investigations revealed that the woman had visited someone in Mehrauli and lives in Chattarpur. It was found she lives in India with her family and runs a business of hair wigs. The police have now contacted her family.

“It appears that she was upset about a failed relationship and tried to commit suicide but it needs to be verified. Once her family comes, we will know if she was married and who did she go to meet in Mehrauli. We will probe if she was pushed from the staircase. We are investigating the matter and will record detailed statements. No case has been registered in the matter yet,” a police officer said.
