Teen murdered at friend’s birthday near Saket mall

An 19-year-old youth was killed and his friend critically injured after they were attacked allegedly by a group of five men, at their friend’s birthday party at Hauz Rani in Malviya Nagar in south Delhi on Friday night.

Police suspect it was a premeditated attack — a fallout of a dispute between the victim and the attackers in their locality. All the five attackers were identified, though no arrest was made till Saturday night. The spot is near the posh Select City shopping mall.

Police said 19-year-old Aman alias Karan was stabbed multiple times by the five men. When his friend Amit, 21, came to his rescue, the attackers stabbed him as well. The assailants used iron rods to attack them.

The two were rushed to a nearby hospital where Aman was declared brought dead. Amit is under observation. He is said to be stable and out of danger. Aman lived with his family in Pushp Vihar near Saket.

Chinmoy Biswal, additional deputy commissioner of police (south), said at 11.30 pm, they received a call regarding an attack on two youths. “By the time our team reached the crime scene, the injured persons were rushed to Max Hospital in Saket, where Aman was declared dead on admission,” said Biswal.

After Amit was declared fit for statement, his statement was recorded and a case of murder was registered at the Malviya Nagar police station. Amit told police he and Aman had gone to a friend’s room in Hauz Rani to celebrate the birthday of their friend Gaurav.

“Around 10.45 pm, Aman and Amit were in the room, waiting for their friend Tajender alias Golu who had gone to bring the birthday cake. Suddenly, five men with knives and iron rods arrived and began attacking them. When the two collapsed, the attackers fled,” said Biswal.

The five men were identified as Aman Sethi alias Golu, Robby alias Ravi, Nickky, Anshu and Himmat. “Raids are being conducted across Delhi-NCR to nab them,” Biswal added.
