Baijal visits S Delhi parks, green spaces under flyovers
Delhi lieutenant governor (L-G) Anil Baijal on Saturday visited the Rock Garden Park at Munirka Village, Munirka Village Park under the flyover and recently refurbished space by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) under the Andrews Ganj flyover.
The L-G was accompanied by the SDMC commissioner, secretary (PWD), and other senior officers.
“Development and beautification of such parks will provide better recreational and health opportunities for the benefit of the residents. Appreciating the efforts being made by the corporation in restoring and maintaining the green lungs of South Delhi, he advised the south civic body to keep up the momentum of such works of transformation of urban spaces,” an official said.
The L-G also appealed to the residents that apart from the government, the involvement of RWAs is necessary for cleanliness and infrastructural development. “Groups of active residents, including women, can come forward and play a vital role. Community participation and ownership shall automatically ensure robust feedback of performance of officials concerned, too,” a release issued by Baijal’s office said.
Since his first visit and in the course of meetings, Baijal has repeatedly stressed upon the beautification and restoration of spaces under the flyovers, an official said.
“A beginning has been made with the development of Munirka Village Park under the flyover by PWD and beautification of space under Andrews Ganj flyover by SDMC. The L-G appreciated the efforts of both the departments and hoped that more such transformative works would happen in the near future,” it stated.
