Singh Dhoni has a new special fan in the form of Rio Olympic gold-medallist Caster Semenya, who had has hailed the former India captain as an ‘inspiring’ figure after watching his biopic ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’.

Semenya, who struck gold in 800m at the Rio Games last year, took to Twitter to show respect for ‘Captain Cool’. “@msdhoni i have just watched your film.. Inspiring story it is.. #msdhoniuntoldstory... Salute..,” she stated on the micro-blogging site.

The movie, which depicted Dhoni’s struggles from being a small-town kid to an employee of the Railways to finally achieving his dreams, was praised by a number of sportsperson across the globe. Semenya too, who has faced controversies over her gender, testosterone levels, etc. is no stranger to struggles.

She had clocked her fastest at Rio, which was a South African record besides being the fifthfastest in Olympic history.

Dhoni, who had lifted the World Cup for India in 2011 is widely regarded as the best Indian captain in history. He also has the unique distinction of being the only Indian to win both the Champions League and Indian Premier League twice as captain. However, he is not having the best of moments on the pitch this season and barring a couple of knocks hasn’t really played to his potential.

However, that has had little impact on his fan base who are sure their hero will strike form when required.
