Seven wonders park coming up in S Delhi
of seven wonders of the world from different ages are coming up at a park being developed by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation near the Sarai Kale Khan Interstate Bus Terminus.
The SDMC has approved the project to install the replicas on a 11-acre park. Each replica will be of 10 metres in height.
The list has been drawn up from ancient, medieval and new wonders of the world. The chosen monuments are Taj Mahal, Great Pyramid of Egypt, Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Christ the Redeemer of Brazil, Rome’s Colosseum and the Statue of Liberty.
The place is occupied by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for its ring rail line.
Puneet Goel, SDMC commissioner, said, “The place has been dug by the DMRC for the construction of the underground Metro line. The agency will take another one-and-half months to level the place. After that we will start work on this project. It is likely to be completed in a year.”
As per the horticulture department officials, these replicas will be constructed by the engineering wing with stone or cement.
“Senior SDMC officials visited the park developed on a similar theme at Kota, Rajasthan in 2013. After coming back, officials prepared a detailed project report and shared it with the engineering department. Once the job is done, the horticulture department will develop the themebased green lawns around each of these structures,” he said.
Since the place is centrally located and easily accessible through Ring Road, the department expects to get visitors from all over Delhi.
