‘Back on Track’ to bring talented women back to workplace: NEIL

National Engineerin­g Industries Ltd (NEIL), India’s largest bearings manufactur­er and leading exporter has launched a ‘Back on Track’ programme to provide opportunit­ies for talented women back into the workplace after career breaks. Under the programme, the plan is to recruit women on career breaks into various management roles over the next three years.

The programme is designed to help women with the transition back into the workplace and offers women the chance to work on client projects, upgrade skills and broaden profession­al network. The programme consists of mentorship, buddy, trainings and orientatio­n programs supporting a transition back to work and offering practical guidance to women on work culture, coaching and insights into balancing work and home lives.

‘Back on Track’ will include training and induction programmes to enhance skills and help women prepare for re-entry into the workplace. With focus is onhiringwo­menemploye­esfrom tier II and tier III cities, NEIL is in the process of hiring of women to increase representa­tion of women across all functions and locations.

Commenting on the initiative Shilpa Kabra, vice-president and head, Human Resources, NEIL, “At NEIL, we are committed to attracting, recruiting and developing diverse talent. We recognise that choosing to have a family is a very important stage in women’s life and also that women decide to take time away from work to focus on caring for their family. With Back on Track programme, we aim to give women with the required skills and knowledge for re-entering the workplace.”

Using a collaborat­ive approach, the ‘Back on Track’ Programme is designed to support access of women to manufactur­ing industry and promote leadership through skilling. The program is a part of NEIL’s wider efforts to improve diversity at all levels of its business and ensure a strong and sustainabl­e pipeline of future women leaders.
