As sacked minister Kapil Mishra’s hunger strike entered the third day on Friday, his mother Annapurna Mishra, a former BJP mayor, asked chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to break his silence on the corruption charges levelled against him.

In an open letter to Kejriwal on Friday, Annapurna said his close aides were trying to defame Mishra and her. She accused him and other party leaders of allegedly circulating select photographs on social media where Mishra is seen sitting with Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari.

Clarifying about the photos, she said, “You were also there in the event from where pictures are being spread on social media by AAP’s leaders. The event was in honour of Kumar Vishwas’ father and almost all of your cabinet was also present. How many more lies, Arvind?”

Mishra later tweeted a few pictures from the event that showed deputy CM Manish Sisodia and AAP’s Rajasthan convener Kumar Vishwas sharing the stage with Manoj Tiwari. He also said, “To hide the truth, he (Kejriwal) is using a series of lies. First it was EVMs, then the man who attacked me and then the misleading pictures.”Claiming that she was the one who organised the first Mohalla Sabha in Delhi in 2007, Annapurna reminded Kejriwal that he too had attended it and had written about it in his book ‘Swaraj’.

“In your book Swaraj, you had written about my working style. From there, where have we come today. You had told me that when AAP MLAs had met at Constitution Club after winning 28 seats, you had shown them a video of my Mohalla Sabha,” she said.

“Today you are alleging that my son is a BJP agent. Your close aides are posting false pictures of my son... Remember the day you had come to my house saying that you wanted Kapil in your party? You wanted him to fight elections but he wasn’t agreeing. Then you had come to me saying ‘you needed Kapil’. Today your own people are calling me corrupt and you are quiet,” Annapurna wrote in her letter.

Calling her son stubborn, she wrote, “You worked with Kapil but failed to understand him... As a mother I am requesting you to please give the information he is seeking. He is nobody’s agent but only the agent of truth. Learn to fear God.” Kapil Mishra, has been advised hospitalisation by a team of doctors who examined him.

“His blood sugar level has dropped to 81 mg/dL and intravenous fluids need to be started immediately. His pulse is low. He is going into dehydration because of poor salt intake. We have thus advised hospitalisation,” said Dr Javed Salam of the Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital who examined him.
