Kejriwal’s relative breaking drains, roads to get repair contracts: Tiwari
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi launched a fresh salvo against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday saying that a construction firm owned by his relative damaged drains and roads to later seek contracts for their repair.
Demanding Kejriwal’s resignation, BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari said when an engineer of Public Works Department tried to prevent the company’s staff from breaking a drain, he was threatened by the owner.
“In his letter to Nangloi assistant commissioner of police regarding a complaint on April 1, 2016, the engineer alleged that while on inspection in Peeragarhi area of Delhi, he saw three persons breaking a concrete drain built by the PWD. When he asked them to stop, one of the owners of the company called him and threatened,” Tiwari said at a press conference.
The BJP leader also demanded an inquiry by Anti Corruption Branch or Central Bureau of Investigation into the matter.
“How is this related to the chief minister? It’s an innocuous issue that could be cleared within the PWD itself,” a government spokesperson said.
“Were they getting work because Kejriwal was sitting here as the CM? Kejriwal must answer all these questions,” Tiwari said.
“It is for all these answers that Kapil Mishra is on dharna. Please go beyond the dharna politics. Kejriwal must answer them now, as he is the CM and all this corruption is being done on his instructions,” Tiwari said.
