Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Pawan Negi said training with Daniel Vettori has helped improve his bowling in the Indian Premier League. “It was a great experience to work with our bowling coach Daniel Vettori. I used to talk to him all the time before the start of the season and he has given me a lot of advice on how to improve my game.”

“Daniel (Vettori) is a left-arm spinner himself and as a result, it was easy for him to guide me. He was always there for all of us during practice and the credit for our growth goes largely to his training tactics. I also learnt a lot from bowling with (Yuzvendra) Chahal.”, he added.

Negi showered praise on RCB skipper Virat Kohli and his leadership skills. “He (Virat Kohli) is a brilliant captain, but the best part about him is that he is extremely supportive of his players. Both on and off the pitch, it is not difficult to approach him and he helped me a lot this season.”

The 24-year old has been one of the few RCB players who performed consistently this season and with 13 wickets from 12 games, is currently the second highest wicket-taker for his team behind Chahal (14).

“Personally, I think I had a good season. I was able to perform well in all areas and I will be looking to finish the tournament with a positive show against Delhi Daredevils tomorrow.”

Negi was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 8.5 crore last year, but his below-par performance in the season prompted DD to release him from the roster. The Delhi-born cricketer however is excited to perform in front of his home crowd.
