Police recovered around ₹2 lakh from his possession and a bag in which he was carrying clothes, said police inspector Madanlal Beniwal of the Udai Mandir police station, Jodhpur.

During interrogation Siddhant told Jodhpur police that he had an argument with his mother after she started asking him about his progress card of his exam. Siddhant has not appeared his BSC first year exam and was avoiding explaining his exam report card, said Beniwal. Siddhant got angry and he picked up kitchen knife and stabbed his mother several times on her neck and abdomen. He confessed that he killed her alone, added Beniwal.

Police officials said that after the murder Siddhant first took a train from Mumbai and got down at Surat. And from Surat he took another train to Jodhpur.

When Mumbai police shared Siddhant’s picture the Jodhpur commissioner initiated a simultaneous inquiry. All the police stations in Jodhpur started searching and they found him in Dhoom Hotel around 2pm.
