A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL SAID THAT THE RESULT OF DELHI GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS (88.27%) WAS 6% ABOVE THE NATIONAL CBSE AVERAGE

Delhi government schools performed better than private schools for a second year in a row, said deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday.

According to the Class 12 results of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) this year, the pass percentage of Delhi government schools and un-aided private schools was 88.27% and 79.27%. This means that the result of government schools is better than that of private schools by 9.00%.

Last year this difference was only 2.24% with the pass percentage of government schools standing at 88.91% and that for private schools being 86.67%.

A government official said that the result of Delhi government schools (88.27%) was 6% above national CBSE average (82.02%).

“Not only are Delhi’s government schools doing better than private schools in Delhi, they are outdoing private schools across the country,” the official added.

The result of Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalayas (RPVVs) stood at 99.72%, which is more than that of Delhi’s Kendriya Vidyalayas (94.60%) and un-aided private schools (79.27%).

The first and second toppers of Delhi government schools are from Rajkiya Prathibha Vikas Vidyalaya. Vikas Upadhyay from RPVV in Yamuna Vihar is the first topper with 97% in Science. The second topper is Garvit Dang from RPVV, Shalimar Bagh with 96.2% in Commerce.

At a press conference on Sunday , Sisodia said that this year, 112 government schools achieved 100% result.

Rajeshwari Kapri, principal of Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Sonia Vihar, said that 498 girls appeared from their school in CBSE Class 12 board exams. The pass percentage turned out to be 77% despite poor infrastructure and insufficient number of teachers. The topper of the school, Kavita Kumari Pathak, whose father works as a labourer , scored 91%.
