Dwarka: Revenge killing solved, 1 held
We interrogated Pradeep and he confessed to the crime. He said he killed Marshal to take revenge on Arjun.
Four days after the body of an unidentified man was found near Orissa Sadan in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka, the Delhi Police on Monday arrested a 32-year-old man for the crime.
The identity of the man was established more than 24 hours after his brother, Arjun Singh, approached the police and filed a missing complaint.
When Arjun was shown the body, he identified it as his missing brother Marshal Singh, police said.
Surender Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (southwest), said the suspect, Pradeep alias Monu, had developed animosity with the victim’s family because his wife Pooja had eloped with Arjun in November 2015. “Though Pooja returned to her husband due to family’s pressure, she continued her relationship with Arjun. Pradeep was so enraged with Arjun that he had been openly threatening to take revenge from him,” said Kumar.
On May 24, Pradeep allegedly lured Marshal to meet him in Dwarka on the pretext of sorting out differences. When Marshal went to meet Pradeep, the latter’s brother Deepak was also present.
The three left in a Maruti Swift car and on the way the two strangled Marshal with a leather belt and punched him in his face repeatedly.
They dumped Marshal’s body near Orissa Sadan and fled. When Pradeep returned home, his wife Pooja found blood stains on his clothes.
On May 26, Arjun approached the police after Marshal could not be found.
During the probe, police learnt about Arjun’s affair with Pooja and Pradeep’s threats. When Pooja was questioned and she told the police about the blood stains on her husband’s clothes.
“We interrogated Pradeep and he confessed to the crime. He said he killed Marshal to take revenge on Arjun,” said the DCP. Deepak is on the run. HTC
