The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning to organise a two-week-long series of events called Modi Fest to popularise various welfare schemes of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

The BJP is going all out to cover as much political ground as possible in Delhi, where the party faced an unprecedented defeat in the 2015 assembly elections but bounced back in the 2017 municipal polls.

Party sources said three-day camps will be put up in all seven Lok Sabha constituencies, where experts and officials from the ministries concerned will tell people about various government plans and the benefits they entail for the people.

The first camp will be held on June 2. A senior cabinet minister is likely to inaugurate the function.

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said the sole objective of the programme is to facilitate each citizen in getting benefits of schemes initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana and Digital India, etc.

“More than 100 schemes have been launched by the government in the past three years and most of them are for upliftment of the poor. We will create awareness about those decisions and help people access their benefits. Suppose, one requires a loan for setting up a business, construction of a house, or a bank account is required to be opened, we will provide every possible assistance at the venue. All their queries will be addressed and on the spot,” Tiwari said.

The party will rope in intellectuals and experts from different fields to explain the purpose and advantages of government schemes. “Names of these people have not been decided yet. We had a meeting with our office bearers on Wednesday to finalise details,” he said.

Following the ‘Modi-Fest’, the Delhi BJP will also hold a convention for its district and block level workers.
