Over 24 hours after an unidentified man shot a 23-year-old woman techie in the parking of Shatabdi Rail Vihar, a residential society in Noida’s Sector 62, police teams raided the house of the prime suspect, Ashwani, in Etawah, but returned emptyhanded.

With no clues about the whereabouts of the accused, the police are preparing to serve a notice to the security agency whose alleged laxity allowed an intruder inside the premises and also let him get away after the murder. Even a gunshot on the society premises couldn’t alert the security guards posted there.

Anjali Rathour, a resident of Jagadhri near Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, was shot in the head around 6.34am, the footage captured by the CCTV inside the building revealed. The footage showed her being chased by a man, with a weapon pointed at her, in the parking area.

Her family later accused Ashwani, Anjali’s former classmate, for the murder. The victim worked as a trainee engineer with a mobile manufacturing company Lava in Sector 64.

“The suspect had fled his house in Etawah and we returned empty handed. His family already had information about the incident as many media persons had called them up to inquire about the incident, prior to police teams reaching their house. Had there been no communication, our teams could have nabbed the man,” said an officer.

The officials said Ashwani lived at Lajpat Nagar in Delhi and went absconding after his name allegedly cropped up in the case. Police had said that there was a call from Ashwani’s mobile to the victim around 6.05am. After this, she came down from her apartment to meet him. The two had studied together at Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar.
