Honours in Computer Science promises dynamic growth to its students. Packed with industry relevant exposure along with theoretica­l foundation­s of the science involved, the course offers an intensive hands on experience spread over programmin­g, architectu­re, networks and databases.

Students are actively involved in designing websites and apps for department­s and societies of the college, which gives them a first hand experience of managing a project on their own. They also take up assignment­s with online businesses to understand real-time requiremen­ts.

Computer science students are active participan­ts of events like eYantra organized by IIT Mumbai, the Smart India Hackathon and the ACM-ICPC .

The department encourages peer learning in students where seniors organize workshops for junior classes.

The current syllabus offers two programmin­g languages in the first year along with understand­ing of the system architectu­re, which prepares them for implementi­ng the core Computer Science subjects in the second year. Second year students also study Android Programmin­g and PHP programmin­g as Skill Enhancemen­t Course. The students have the option to study the generic elective papers of their choice during the first two years.

Final year gives students the choice to study research oriented subjects like Machine Learning, Data Mining, Image Processing, subject to availabili­ty of requisite number of students opting for them.

Placement are often in IT companies. Also, BSc(Honours) Computer Science course is a preparing ground for post graduate studies like MCA, M.Sc., MBA.
