REGISTRATION FOR PG COURSES FROM JUNE 12
Aspirants for postgraduate courses at Delhi University will have to wait some more as the registration process, scheduled to start from Wednesday, has been delayed by five days.
The online registration for postgraduate and research programmes will now start from next Monday, June 12.
“The University of Delhi reschedules the admission to PhD, MPhil and Postgraduate Programmes for the academic session 2017-2018. The eligible applicants are informed that the registration process of all these programmes will be completely online and will start from 12th June 2017,” the university said in a statement.
Sources said the delay has happened as DU needed time to finalise the admission centres now that the mode of test has been changed to offline due to demand from students.
The PG registration process has been embroiled in a controversy ever since the university announced that it will conduct online entrance test for these courses, leading to protests by a section of students and teachers.
Students and teachers said online entrance test will put many students, especially from rural and backward areas, at a disadvantage. They demanded offline tests.
Giving into the demands, the university decided to conduct only offline tests for PG admission this year.
The online registration process for undergraduate courses is going on and will finish on June 12. The first cutoff will be announced on June 20.
