Manesar rape: Third suspect held from Bulandshahr in midnight raid

The third accused in the Manesar gangrape case was arrested by the special investigation team of Gurgaon police during a midnight raid at Bulandshar in Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the other two accused, Yogender and Amit, were arrested from Manesar and Sirhaul Toll, respectively.
The trio had allegedly raped a 19-year-old mother and killed her infant daughter on the night of May 29. Police had initially registered a case of murder on May 30 and later, the charges of gangrape were added to the FIR on June 3.
They were produced in the local court and sent on remand for two days for further questioning, the police said.
ACP Dharmbir Singh, who heads the SIT confirmed that Jaikesh, the third accused in the case, was arrested from Bulandshahr. “He was brought to Gurgaon and produced in court later on Thursday,” Singh said.
The police had arrested Yogender on Wednesday afternoon with the help of the sarpanch of Bas Kusla village to whom the accused had confessed to his crime. In more success for the police team on Wednesday evening, they were able to arrest Amit from Sirhaul border while he was trying to leave Gurgaon.
On the night of May 29, the accused gave a lift to the victim and her eight-month-old daughter in their Tata Magic van. They allegedly took her to Khandsa, but they were unable to find the address where she was to be dropped off. Later, the accused took her back to Manesar and taking advantage of her vulnerable state, raped her in Sector 8. They also choked her baby to death.
The three accused had committed the crime after repeatedly threatening to kill her eightmonth old daughter. The threat was a ploy meant to force the woman into submission.
According to the police, Jaikesh, who was arrested from Hisra village in Bulandshahr (UP) was driving the van and was also the mastermind who instigated the two others to indulge in the act. He was the first to commit rape, and he had repeatedly threatened to kill the daughter of the victim if she tried to resist or fight back, an investigating officer in the case said.
