It looks like a case of enmity. We are verifying allegations that the Dinesh was involved in criminal cases. We will check the records and probe the case.

A 32-year-old man was allegedly cornered by three bikeborne assailants and shot at thrice after which he succumbed to his injuries. The incident was reported from northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Saturday night.

According to the police, Dinesh was returning home with his friend when the three men cornered him. Before he could fight back, the men allegedly opened fire. While one bullet hit in the stomach, the other pierced through his chest. The men then reportedly fled the spot, leaving Dinesh bleeding on the ground.

A passerby then made a PCR call and helped rush Dinesh to the hospital. He was first taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital and was then referred to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police suspect it to be a case of personal rivalry. An investigating officer said they are trying to identify a woman, who was seen with Dinesh at J block in Jahangirpuri at the time of the incident.

Locals told police that within hours, when a group of men had assembled at the spot two men in a motorcycle came to the spot and fired a shot in the air. The bikers then fled. “It looks like a case of enmity. We are verifying allegations that Dinesh was involved in criminal cases. We will check the records and probe the case,” said a senior police officer.
