A 32-year-old man, working as a lower divisional clerk (civil) at Air Force Station, Tughlakabad, was killed on Monday after he fell out of a moving Metro feeder bus in southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area.

According to the police, Ajay Gaurav, was standing on the footboard of the bus and was buying a ticket when the driver suddenly applied the brakes and he was flung out of the vehicle.

Gaurav, police said, fell on his head and sustained severe injuries. When he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. The police have registered a case of negligence against the driver. No arrest has however been made in the case so far.

“We have not made any arrests so far, as we are yet to find out whose fault it actually was. From our initial investigation, so far it appears like Gaurav was standing o the footboard without holding onto anything. The driver supposedly then suddenly applied the brakes of the vehcile. Gaurav seemed to have lost his balance and he fell on the ground. He sustained injuries on the head. He was declared brought dead at hospital,” DCP, southeast, Romil Baaniya said.

Munna Sao, Gaurav’s fatherin-law, who was in the bus with him, alleged that the conductor did not shut the door before he asked the driver to start the bus, which led to the accident.

“We boarded the bus and

Garurav was standing on the footboard. He put his hands in the pocket to fetch money for the ticket and the driver suddenly started the bus. The conductor did not even care to shut the door of the bus. If he would have, the accident could have been averted. Also, the driver was driving very rashly. The moment he applied the brakes, Gaurav fell out of the bus onto the road. He lost his balance as he was not holding onto anything,” Sao said.

Based on Sao’s statement, a case has been registered and an inquiry in the case initiated.
