A day after a 53-yearold woman was found murdered inside her house in south Delhi’s Amar Colony, the police have arrested two people, including her domestic help, from Noida.

With the arrest of Roshan, the domestic help and Shesh Narain Rawat, the police recovered the stolen gold and diamond jewellery worth ₹20 lakh and ₹3 lakh cash, DCP south east Romil Baaniya said.

Police said they are now looking for three others — Benu Prasad, Arvind and Sonu — who are allegedly involved in the murder.

The matter came to fore when Sarita’s husband Manak Lal returned home and found her dead on Tuesday.

“He said he repeatedly rang the bell but no one answered the door. He then opened the lock with an alternate key and found the house upside down. All the almirahs were opened and drawers were thrown around. The jewellery and cash too were missing. When he went inside the bedroom, he found Sarita lying dead on the bed. Her hands, neck , legs and mouth were taped. While one of their servants was in the house, Roshan was missing,” a senior police officer said.

Lal then alerted the neighbours and called the police.

According to the police, Roshan, whom Sarita had appointed a few weeks ago, convinced four of his associates to carry out a robbery. Police said that Roshan wanted to buy an Audi and lead a lavish lifestyle.

On Tuesday afternoon around 11 am when Sarita’s husband left for work, Roshan asked four of his associates to come to the apartment. The men barged in and ransacked the house. The men reportedly tied the other help Ranjan, and when Sarita tried to resist, she too was tied up. As she made an attempt to raise an alarm, the men thrashed her and strangled her to death before fleeing with the booty.

Two of the five men were later nabbed from Atta market in Noida late on Tuesday night.
