the murder of a boy inside a train by a mob, the Haryana government may install CCTVs at railway stations across the state, specially on Delhi-Ghaziabad-Mathura route. The government has also tightened security in the local trains running on this route.

Junaid Khan, a resident of Khandawali village, was killed and his brothers were injured after a mob attacked them on a Mathura-bound train on June 22.

“I have written to senior railway officials like DRMs, Zonal managers urging them to install CCTV cameras at railway stations across Haryana,” SP (GRP) Kamal Deep Goyal said.

“There are 220 railway stations in Haryana and I am hopeful that railway authorities will take action on my request in view of the latest incident,” he said. Sources said it was likely that railway authorities use Nirbhaya fund for installation of the cameras.

“Installation of CCTV cameras at railway stations may be taken up soon,” an officer said. The main accused in the Junaid’s murder case was arrested based on the details the police had accessed from the footage of a CCTV camera installed at a private building near Asaoti railway station.

GRP has deployed four police personnel in some trains. But in Mathura-Delhi-Ghaziabad EMU, nine personnel have been deployed—five from Railway protection force and four from GRP.

“The security personnel have been deployed in six EMUs during morning and evening peak time,” GRP SHO Ajay Kumar said.

Meanwhile, villagers of Naresh Kumar’s Bhamrola village are likely to hold Mahapanchayat on Thursday to devise action plan so that “real picture” behind June 22 incident is presented before the government.

The committee constituted for the purpose has demanded CBI probe into the circumstances which triggered June 22 incident.
