GST to be part of UP Board Class 10 course
IF A CONSENSUS IS REACHED, GST AS A SEPARATE TOPIC COULD ALSO GET INTRODUCED FOR BOARD’S CLASS 12 COMMERCE SUBJECT
Now, more than 30 lakh high school students enrolled in different schools of Uttar Pradesh and affiliated to UP Board will get lessons in goods and service tax (GST).
The UP Board has included GST as a separate topic of study in syllabus of social science for Class 10 students. The updated syllabus for the current academic session was released on May 5.
GST could also get included in the course of intermediate students as part of their study of trade organisations and taxes, a proposal still under consideration of board officials holding meetings of course committees since July 3.
“This is a welcome move as GST is now in effect and knowledge of it is important for the students. This inclusion will introduce the Hindi heartland state’s students to the latest tax early.
With GST set to be included in college/varsity level as well, early knowledge will make students comfortable with this new tax system governing their lives,” said Pradeep Tripathi, principal, Madhav Gyan Kendra Intermediate College, Naini.
The UP Board from 2017-18 academic session has also introduced lessons in banking from Class 9 itself in the new amended curriculum for social science introduced for lakhs of students in over 25,000 schools of the board.
This knowledge of banking and financial world has been included for students of Classes 9 to 12 in the amended curriculum.
The amended curriculum, which has also brought changes in other subjects like Hindi, home science, science etc besides social science and moral, sports and physical education subjects also, is also available on the board’s official website www.upmsp.edu.in.
