THE VICTIM’S MOTHER, SHAKUNTLA DEVI, TOLD THE GURGAON POLICE THAT HER HUSBAND WAS AN ALCOHOLIC. SHE SAID HE WOULD DRINK AND BEAT HER AND THE MINOR GIRL DAILY

36-year old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing his minor daughter in a fit of anger at Naurangpur village near the Kherki Daula toll plaza in Gurgaon.

The man, identified as Rakesh, is allegedly an alcoholic. He beat up his 12-year old daughter to death with a wooden stick in the wee hours of Sunday, police said.

A case was registered against the man at the Kherki Daula police station.

The victim’s mother Shakuntla Devi said in her complaint that her husband had the habit of drinking liquor daily and used to physically abuse them.

On Sunday morning, he had a heated argument with his wife and in a fit of anger started beating his daughter with a wooden stick.

“The girl was severely beaten up and her body had injury marks. She appears to have suffered injuries in the head. The forensic team has collected evidence and we are investigating the case”, said Ramesh Kumar, SHO, Kherki Daula police station.

Rakesh was arrested on Sunday evening from Naurangpur road, and was sent to judicial custody in Bhondsi jail.

“Rakesh used to drive an auto but after an accident he was rendered jobless and he perhaps took to alcohol because of this reason”, said Kumar.

Police said both the couple are estranged and do not want to live together. A case had already been registered at Kanina police station in Mewat in connection with the matrimonial dispute.

The husband and the wife were not on talking terms and wanted to live separately, an official said.
