REGISTRATIONS ARE OPEN The biggest annual interlocality football tournament in Delhi NCR returns

sports fever in the country is at its peak with the recently concluded Wimbledon, where Roger Federer left everyone awestruck with an amazing performance in the tournament bagging his record breaking eighth title at SW19. But sports fiesta doesn’t end there.

The biggest annual inter-locality football tournament in Delhi-NCR returns this year with a bang. A huge success last year, the 4th season of Hindustan Times Great Indian Football Action (HT GIFA) is all set to get bigger, better and full of remarkable football action this year.

HT GIFA has collaborated with LaLiga this year, providing students an excellent platform to showcase their skills and talent. This Global Football Partnership presents a fantastic opportunity for budding footballers.

With this generation getting more and more tech savvy, it has become exceedingly hard to disengage young children from the gadgets. It has become extremely important for kids to engage in any physical activity.

Playing sports provides the necessary physical workout and promotes great values like team spirit and determination. HT GIFA is the perfect occasion for young kids to test out their skills in football and build their interest in sports.

HT GIFA is a positive change in the sporting culture of Delhi-NCR. GIFA aims to engage not just kids but also parents and neighbourhoods, which is crucial for societal acceptance and encouragement of sports.

Kapil Chaudhary, a father of two, said “Sport is a way of life in our family. Me and my wife regularly play football and other sports with our sons. As a father I do everything I can to ensure my children stay fit and healthy. Sport helps in a child’s development and instils qualities like team work, discipline and camaraderie. I also believe sports are equally important as academics. I would love to see my son play professionally as well.”

“HT GIFA provides an excellent platform for young kids. It not only is an opportunity for children to play the sport but it also offers valuable lessons like dealing with success and failure, determination and much more. After all football is also about inspiration! While students from my school missed the opportunity to participate last year, I’ll make sure to register them in the 4th season this year.” said Sadhana Bhalla, Principal, Mira Model School.

“HT GIFA was one of the best experiences for my child last year. She utterly enjoyed the tournament last year and also developed her interest in football. I will make sure to register her this year too,” said Anoop Gahlout .

With the registrations for Season 4 open, teams are not missing any opportunity to get a spot. The format of HT GIFA, 2017 is the same as last year with the registration of teams in two categories — Junior (classes 5th-8th) and Senior (classes 9th-12th). Details about the registration process and the rules can be obtained from

The registration will be followed by training matches, opening ceremony, the preliminary matches and final knockouts. The registrations close on the 24th of July, so make sure your team registers and doesn’t miss out on this grand opportunity!
