Mumbai teenager nabbed, gang-raped twice in 10 months
THE GIRL, WHO IS SUFFERING FROM A PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDER, WAS ALLEGEDLY KIDNAPPED AND RAPED BY FIVE IN OCTOBER LAST YEAR
A 17-year-old gang-rape survivor was kidnapped and raped by two auto rickshaw drivers in Goregaon, said the police.
They were arrested on Friday. The girl, who is suffering from a psychological disorder, was allegedly kidnapped and raped by five in October last year.
The minor, who lives with her parents at Dindoshi, went missing on Saturday evening — two days before the identification parade in the October rape case. The family searched for her in the vicinity and also at their relatives’ homes, but didn’t find her. They registered a missing person complaint with the Dindoshi police on Sunday.
According to the police, she left home in the evening. She was picked up by two auto drivers, who allegedly sexually assaulted her several times.
She returned home on Wednesday after which the police recorded her statement and registered a case of kidnapping and rape against unidentified people, an officer said.
“Several police teams were formed to nab the suspects. All officers of Dindoshi police station and their counterparts in neighbouring areas were alerted. Within 24 hours, we managed to detain the two drivers from Kandivli,” said Vinay Rathod, deputy commissioner of police, Zone XII. The survivor was sent to JJ Hospital for medical examination.
The October 2016 gang rape came to light after the girl complained of abdominal pain and was taken to hospital where her family learnt that she was pregnant.
