PWD appoints consultant to build new schools at 15 locations in Delhi
The Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government has appointed two consultants for construction of new school buildings at 15 locations in the city.
According to the plan, the department will construct new school buildings at a total of 29 locations.
Of these, new schools will also come up at some locations across Delhi, including at Dwarka Sectors 18, 19, 16, 11 and Jonapur.
The decision was taken at a recently held meeting of the Consultant Appointment Committee of the PWD.
“The department has finalised the appointment of two consultants for comprehensive planning and designing for construction of new school buildings at 15 locations. Consultants for new school buildings at the remaining 14 will be hired soon,” a senior government official said.
The official said that with the construction of new schools buildings at 29 locations, around 10,000 additional classrooms will be ready for students. “We are expecting the completion of construction of all new schools buildings by next year,” official added.
The government has already constructed around 6,500 new classrooms in various schools, while an additional 1,500 classromms will come up by October this year. PTI
If all goes well, one can soon track Delhi government’s projects and proposals through a mobile app from October.
The Delhi government has planned to launch a mobile application that would serve as a “single-window” platform to let people check status of its various projects.
“The planning department has been asked to develop an app which will enable citizens to know about government’s work, schemes, proposals and projects and track their implementation at a single platform,” said a senior government official, who said the planning department has already started work on the project.
A name is yet to be finalised for the mobile application.
The move is intended to put in public domain all relevant information about the government’s work and also enable the masses to track them. PTI
