International Mandela Day at Springdales, Dhaula Kuan
cherished a moment of immense pride as H.E Mr FK Morule, High Commissioner, High Commission of the Republic of South Africa, presided over as the chief guest at the valedictory function of ‘Africa Week’ organised by the school on the occasion of International Mandela Day. The occasion was also graced by H.E. Judith KK Kangoma Kapijlmpanga, High Commissioner of Republic of Zambia; Dr Wael Albattrekhi, MinisterCounsellor, Deputy Chief of the Mission, Embassy of the State of Palestine, and also the parents of students from Tanzania, Ghana and Palestine. The event, a longstanding tradition to honour and celebrate the humanitarian ideals of Dr Nelson Mandela, witnessed the culmination of the ‘Africa Week’, during which the students wrote slogans, essays, poems and articles on the theme “Action against Poverty”. Principal Dr Jyoti Bose urged the students “to uphold values and beliefs of Nelson Mandela by translating them into action for the benefit of the society.” Rajni Kumar, founder of the Africa Club and chairperson of Springdales Education Society, related her journey from the inception of the club and also her steadfast support for the Africans in their fight for democracy.
celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day, which commenced with the lighting of the lamp. Chief guest Namita Pradhan, Protrustee, DPS Society, graced the occasion. Vipin Kumar, principal, GBSSS Pitampura, and Meena Sharma, principal, SV, Sector 17, Rohini, were also present along with members of DPS Rohini Managing Committee. Principal Vibha Singh highlighted the achievements of the school and congratulated the newly appointed cabinet. A musical performance portrayed the journey of the school, followed by a talk show and performances showcasing seven Indian classical dance styles. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
organised a conference on ‘3D Printing Technology’ for principals of National Progressive Schools’ Conference (NPSC) schools by Socio-Economic Welfare Society. NPSC chairman Ashok Pandey said, “In future, 3D printing technology will transform many industrial activities and bring changes in business models.” RC Shekhar, director of GBS, the host school, conveyed that the objective of this conference was to provide awareness on this technology to the heads of schools. Sanjay Khanna, con- vener of the Socio-Economic Welfare Society and Babita Khanna, general secretary of the society, discussed the usage of this technology in school education and how it can make learning more effective.
organised Trishna Summit – A Students’ Conclave. Around 800 students from 24 prestigious schools from Delhi participated in this annual interschool cultural fiesta. The opening ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by guest of honour Colonel Joe Sabby, director in the Headquarters Integrated Staff. Also present were KK Dhanuka, member of NKBPS group of schools committee, and Satinder Kaur, headmistress of NKBPS Junior School. School head Dr Rajee N Kumar welcomed and felicitated the guests. Renowned theatre person and film actor Sushma Seth was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Chairperson Puspa Devi Bagrodia, Mr and Mrs DK Gupta, and school managing committee member Manju Gupta attented.
