Six injured as car rams tree on divider

Six youngsters, including three women, were injured after a Hyundai Verna car they were travelling in lost control, hit a divider and then rammed a tree on it, in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka Sector 6 on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said all the six injured persons were friends. While the three women and a male friend were discharged from Maharaja Agrasen Hospital after medical attention, two other injured men are still undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Sector 18, Dwarka. The two were identified as Alan Shaji, 19, resident of Vikaspuri, and Edwin Shaju, 19, resident of Mahabir Enclave in west Delhi. Police said they were yet to know the details including who was driving the car.

According to a senior police officer, the accident took place around 5 pm in front of JM Internatio­nal School in Dwarka Sector 6. The accident came to light after the police control room was informed about the accident.

A police team reached the accident spot and learnt that the occupants of the car were already shifted to Maharaja Agarsen Hospital by the public. At the hospital, they were told that the three women and a man, all aged 18 years, were already discharged. The investigat­ing officer collected details about the injured persons and their medical reports.

“It was further learnt that two other injured men were shifted to a private hospital as they had sustained serious injuries,” said the officer, adding, “We are yet to know how and under what circumstan­ces the accident took place. We will record the statement of all the injured persons.”

A case of rash and negligent driving causing hurt was registered at the Dwarka South police station. The car was confiscate­d.
