Villages terrified as hair chopping incidents rise

Five mysterious incidents of hair chopping were reported around Faridabad between Monday and Tuesday.

While four FIRs related to hair chopping were filed at Hathin, one was filed at Bahin in Palwal.

In the first incident on Monday, a woman named Ruksana from Kokerchati village under Hathin police station allegedly fell unconsciou­s after waking up in the wee hours of Monday.

“She felt pain in her stomach and saw a black cat on her head. She fell unconsciou­s,” said Arshad, her relative. “Her hair was found chopped off,” he told Hindustan Times.

Within hours, a similar incident took place in the same village when one Shabana found her hair chopped off. In the evening, Ruksana’s mother-in-law Tahira found her hair chopped off.

Meanwhile, a woman named Rahila from Khilku village in Palwal claimed she saw a black and fell unconsciou­s. She said she found her hair cut off on Tuesday.

Police also received a complaint from Raniyala Khurd village on Tuesday that the hair of a 15-year-old girl Varsina were chopped off.

The complaint was filed at the Bahin police station.

Meanwhile, Hodal DSP Moji Ram, said: “We are trying to crack the cases.”

Police also said that they have seized the chopped hair and sent it for forensic examinatio­n.

About 10 such cases have been reported from Palwal over the past 10-15 days.
