Smoke in Metro train triggers panic
Panic gripped passengers in a Metro train when some of them spotted smoke inside the compartment around 7pm on Tuesday.
The train was moving towards Kaushambi when the incident took place. A Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson said the smoke probably emanated from the brakes.
After all the compartment passengers got down at Kaushambi station, the train remained stationed there for about 5-7 minutes.
“The smoke may have emanated out of the braking system and the passengers deboarded when the train reached Kaushambi. There was no serious issue. The incident did not hamper the movement of trains,” the spokesperson said.
Both Vaishali and Kaushambi are the two operational metro train stations in Ghaziabad.
Delhi BJP has written to Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal against ‘return on equity’ (ROE) fixed ‘arbitrarily’ by Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), which is leading to higher returns to discoms. It urged L-G to exercise his power as per the Electricity Act for rectification in rules to amend provisions mandating ROE.
Referring to Multiyear Tariff Regulations that was approved on January 31, state unit chief Manoj Tiwari said there is no provision for ROE is a farce and a way to cheat power consumers in Delhi. HTC
