Monsoon is here: Take precautions to avoid ailments
MONSOON IS a season of mixed experiences. Though it refreshes every living being after the scorching heat of summers it also brings in a few maladies along with it.
During this time water-clogged neighbourhoods become home to bacteria and viruses which cause various ailments like flu, jaundice, diarrhoea, cholera, chikungunya, dengue and malaria.
Most of these diseases are caused because still and stagnant water is the breeding ground for mosquitoes. Since these diseases are spread by mosquitoes, mosquito repellents and net should be used. Make sure that water does not stagnate at your home and surrounding areas.
We should take a balanced diet and must increase the intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. We should also stop consuming street food, cold drinks and beverages. Be wary of dairy foods including ice cream, which is often contaminated and made from unpasteurised milk.
Drink a lot of water daily to stay hydrated and ensure that the water is clean and filtered. Herbal tea also comes as a cure for various diseases.
As viruses and bacteria are rife in the surroundings, we should avoid touching our eyes, nose and mouth or should use handkerchief to clean our eyes and nose.
We must also wash hands with soap and water frequently and bathe twice as there is lot of humidity, and rashes are common during this season. It’s better to take precautions and stay healthy.
