chief minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday wrote to Delhi lieutenant governor Anil Baijal, asking him to put the teachers’ recruitment process by the staff recruitment board on hold till the education department formulates a policy to give weightage to guest tutors.

In his letter, Sisodia, who holds the education portfolio, said ‘no files related to teacher recruitment are being shown to him and are being sent directly from the department of education to the L-G’s office via the chief secretary.’

This is not the first time the Delhi government and the L-G’s office have sparred over control of the departments. The Delhi government has in the past been at loggerheads with former L-G Najeeb Jung over running of our customers is our first priority and we flew a substitute aircraft to continue with the flight service for our valued customers. We would like to apologize to our passengers on the flight for the inconvenience caused,” the spokesperson said.

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation has ordered an inquiry.

On May 7, the tail of a Patnabound Jet Airways plane clipped the starboard wing of another plane when the planes were taxiing for take-off at Delhi airport

A day after an Uber cab driver allegedly abandoned a Delhi-based lawyer and his 60-year-old mother midway after misbehaving with them in Bhondsi area of Gurgaon, the lawyer has sought an apology from the cab aggregator.

Kaushik Barua. 25, has threatened to file a PIL (Public interest Litigation), if Uber does not issue an apology in the media and take corrective steps. The victim hails from Guwahati and has been living in Delhi for the last seven years.

“The driver treated us in an inhuman manner. It was raining heavily and he dumped me and my mother,” Kaushik said.

Barua had booked an Uber cab on Monday to go to Saket from Bhondsi after attending a satsang at a farm house. He alleged that the driver forced them to walk in the rain and then misbehaved. He also refused to take them to the destination.

Uber has assured action. “We have internally reviewed the matter. Uber does not condone racism in any manner or form and we are taking immediate action to address the issue,” said an Uber spokesperson, pointing to the allegation that the driver referred to the native place of the passengers.

“For us sensitisation begins with our Terms of Use that clearly prohibit discrimination of any kind, be it caste, religion, age, disability, gender, marital status,” the spokesperson said.
